report by Tom on the day. Photos with willing helpers follow

Strange lights lit up the night sky around Hoebridge Golf Course on the on the night of the 8th of July, but this was no paranormal event. Hoebridge Golf Clubs captain, Tom Wesolowski, was taking part in a 24 hour golf marathon on the three courses at Hoebridge Golf Club to raise funds for two local charities.

Tom the Hoebridge Golf Club’s men’s captain for 2020/21 chose LinkAble as his charity of the year whilst the ladies’ section will be supporting Woking Age Concern. Funds raised from the challenge and from other activities during the year will be shared equally between the two charities

Despite having teeing off under dark clouds and with persistent rain predicted the weather, mostly, held off and the day proved to be a highly enjoyable if tiring experience.

During the night time session the greens were lit by powerful glow sticks and the players played with luminous golf balls, a slightly surreal but fun experience. Particular thanks are due to Mike Edis and Mark Pearce who accompanied Tom on the night time session

Over the 24 hours and 20 minutes Tom clocked up 126 holes and estimates he walked in excess of 28 miles. He declined to comment when ask on how many balls may have been lost.
